On March 29, a missing teen was found in the residence of Michael Tennyson, a former Kansas Deputy. Tennyson was charged with four counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and received a bond of $75,000, to which he pleaded not guilty to at the time. Tennyson had only worked for the sheriff’s department for three months before they were notified of the allegations, resulting in him being immediately fired. Recently, on Sept. 3, Tennyson decided to change his plea and ended up admitting to being sexually involved with the 15-year-old and is due to receive a sentence in October.
Incidents like this happen anywhere and to anyone, and not just locally. Because of this, it is important to note that people should always be aware of their surroundings and make sure they are trusting the right people; not everyone in uniform is incapable of deception.
