What If: We Could Wear Full Costumes On Halloween?

Every year Halloween is wished and prayed to be on a Saturday, unfortunately there are six other days in the week. This year, Halloween is on one of the worst possible days, a Tuesday before a half day. It isn’t against the rules to wear a dress code adherent costume, but what if Halloween was seen as a spirit day with less restrictions?

“I feel like we should be able to wear less restricted Halloween costumes so that we can still have fun and have a Halloween experience even though we have school. I think dressing up makes the day more exciting, so we can see what everybody is going to be wearing Halloween night while they go to haunted houses, go trick or treating or simply pass out candy. Without spooky outfits and candy Halloween at school is completely defeated, we might as well have the day off,” said Olivia Scroggins, 11.

While costumes may cause a distraction in class in all honesty nobody will be paying attention for the most part anyways, it is Halloween. While there will always have to be some sort of dress code for Halloween, it should be modified specifically for the day, or just to be labeled as a spirit day. If costumes become too distracting in the classroom teachers can simply have a student remove their hat, stop making their costume lights glow or not allow costumes that are too gory.
