Dare To Dodge

Every year, the high school holds a StuCo dodgeball tournament to raise money for “Winter Wishes” along with any other StuCo finances. This year, there were eight boy teams and six female teams. Students of any grade can put together a dodgeball team of their choosing. With this, each team can dress and name their team however they want, as long as it follows school guidelines. This year, lots of preparation when into the tournament.

“A lot of preparation went into forming our team of gods. We spent countless days preparing for the tournament,” Brady Schartzy, 12, said.

Not only did these team hope to get first at the tournament, but they also wanted to have the best name and presentation.

“Our theme was lumberjack. Because our team name was “Lumber-Jocks,” it just seemed fitting,” Trajan McCormick, 12 said.

Many of the players on this year’s team have played in the years previous. However, there have been mixed opinions on the turnout of this year compared to others.

“I feel like this year was not as intense,” McCormick said.

One the other hand, some argue that this year was more tame and ran better than other years.

“I have played in years prior and this year seemed to run the smoothest in scheduling,” Noah Nemer, 12, said.

This year, the boy’s first place team was the “Big Ballers” and the girl’s champion team was “The Inmates.” Runner ups to these champions were “Gritz Bitz” and “Dodgeballs of Fury.”

Though despite how the games were played, a good amount money was raised for StuCo and many made fun memories with their classmates.
