Homecoming is here once more at SHHS, with a new batch of candidates and a new theme. Led by the Hype Squad, homecoming is taking place on February 2, with all the usual activities in the week leading up to it.

“This week we’re having spirit days for students to dress up all the way throughout the week,” said Majesta Dixon, 12, Hype Squad leader.  “We have “Deck the Walls” where all activities, organizations and sports teams are invited to create a “Bronco Wonderland” themed poster to hang in the gym for the homecoming games on Friday night. On Friday we will also have a pep assembly to get excited for the games. Of course, following the coronation at the basketball game there will be a dance Friday evening.”

The female candidates are Brianna Hannon, Lucy Kuhn, Camie Williams and Regan Smith, and the male candidates are Hunter King, Jackson Burrell, Noah Nemer and Brock LaPlante. The candidates were announced last week

“It’s nice to be recognized after four years of high school,” said Kuhn. “It makes you feel like you did alright in the end.”

The coronation will take place during halftime at the basketball on Friday, Feb. 2. At the coronation, a new Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned.

“I’m really happy that they are all candidates,” said Hannon. “I think they are all very deserving, and I have grown close with many of them. There is not a wrong person you could vote for.”

The dance following the game will be “Winter Wonderland” themed and take place in the cafeteria.

“The dance is a perfect way to end a hectic week and hang out with your friends,” said Dixon. “It’s especially enjoyable for me, because I finally get to stop stressing out, the week is over and we ran a successful homecoming week!”
