With the 2018 winter Olympics starting today, a tense competition is brewing- and it has nothing to do with the athletes. A recent report has announced that Kim Yo Jong, who is none other than the infamous Kim Jong Un’s sister, will be present at the olympic ceremony. To counter this move, the U.S. government has sent Mike Pence to attend the ceremony. The purpose of Pence’s presence at this ceremony is to show the United States’ resolve to show an international commitment to rally against the Kim regime in North Korea.

“We’re traveling to the Olympics to make sure that North Korea doesn’t use the powerful symbolism and the backdrop of the Winter Olympics to paper over the truth about their regime,” Pence said.

Kim Yo Jong is a mystery to media sources. All that is currently known is that she is a personal assistant to her brother. Her position is high enough that, when her brother was ill, she ran North Korea for a short time.

Despite South Korea’s positive approach towards the matter, the U.S. continues to stand firm in its belief that North Korea should be completely isolated until the country discontinues the production of nuclear missiles.
