Ready Player One is a Fanboy’s fantasy come true. This new movie that aired March 29, 2018, is filled with references to many different things. Things such as Tracer from Overwatch, The Joker, Tomb Raider, Mass Effect, and literally over a hundred more. Since this movie is about the Oasis and being able to be, whoever and whatever you want, with no rules, leaves lots of possibilities for the movie. Of course they took that opportunity, there are many different worlds and mini games, all drawing back to the creator of the games main challenge. The creator of the Oasis’s name is Holliday. After he died he hid 3 keys in order for all to find. The challenges were of course nearly impossible, including the first challenge of racing. This is wear I make my first critic so to say. As good as this movie was, there were many scenes that were almost too action packed. You couldn’t see what was happening. I get wanting to put some references in the movie, but there were almost too many. It seemed like they just wanted to make back all the money they ended up spending. One good thing about the movie was storyline of the challenges, and I wish it could have been more of the focus. They pretty much ruined that by adding a cliche storyline about romance. However, the comedy and beautiful CGI moments we had made you want to keep watching, we can thank Spielberg for keeping the liveliness in the movie. In the end, If you have played at least one video game in your life you will want to watch it. Just for the fact it’s a giant game of where’s waldo trying to find all the references. Part of the storyline might be broken, but it is still an enjoyable movie to watch.
