Replay the VMA’s

This past August, the Video Music Awards were live on MTV. The show consisted of awards, performances, pre show activities and, of course, the red carpet. The show took place in New York City’s Radio City Music Hall with many surprises for the audience members. One of the first surprises for the nominees and the audience members was that there wasn’t a host this year for the awards.

The show returned to its no-host formula of 2016 after the Katy Perry-helmed 2017 MTV VMAs, which tends to make for a less streamlined night of television. But Haddish’s easy confidence as she held court with Kevin Hart helped start the evening off right. The costars of the upcoming comedy Night School showed off their teamwork as they roasted Jersey Shore and Fifth Harmony. Haddish doesn’t need an outrageous bit to make an impact, so the show wisely just let her riff—by herself, and with Hart,” said TIME Magazine reporter Ashley Hoffman.

No host meant no challenges. Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Hart were able to kick off the show right by entertaining the crowd with their comedy.

“That doesn’t mean there won’t be someone to kick things off. Rapper Cardi B will open the 2018 show, in what will be her first public appearance since welcoming daughter Kulture Kiari less than two months ago,” said Quinn.

With many awards meant many nominees. With categories like Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist, you can imagine all of the honors the artists took home that night. Camila Cabello was able to take home two awards, but artists like Post Malone and Hayley Kiyoko only took home one.

“Cardi’s appearance at the show makes sense, considering she’s leading the nominees with ten nominations. The Carters — Beyoncé and JAY-Z — follow with eight nods for their collaboration, “APES—” while Childish Gambino and Drake are tied for seven nominations each,” said Quinn.

Oh and the performances. It is the time where we can dance in our living room and sing as loud as we want without people staring at us. Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Lopez were some of the amazing performance that were live at the VMA’s. If you missed your favorite performer don’t be bummed out, tune into the Grammy’s on February 10th, 2019 to see if your favorite artist is performing.

“Most of the major nominees will take the stage, including [Ariana]Grande, who will perform her latest single “God Is a Woman.” Shawn Mendes (singing “”In My Blood”), Panic! At the Disco (doing “High Hopes”), Logic with Ryan Tedder (doing “One Day”), Maluma and Malone are all on the schedule too,” said Quinn

Viewers may look forward to seeing some of their favorite stars present the awards to the lucky nominees.  Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Hart, Blake Lively, Liam Payne and Dj Khaled are some of the people that presented the awards this past VMA’s.

After reading this you may feel sad that you missed out on this great awards show, but don’t worry the VMA’s will be back live next year in a new location on a different date. So keep on the lookout for the next signs of the 2019 VMA’s.
