A Golden 2019

A Golden 2019

The Golden Globes was live Sunday, Jan. 6 on NBC featuring many celebrities we have grown to love. Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh were the host of this years award show and tried to steer away from the usual opening act. Both of them agreed not to get into the politic side of Hollywood, like many of past hosts have done, but instead decided to roast people in the crowd with compliments. After the roasting session, the show continued with many awards to be given out.

The movie “Green Book” came out of the show with three awards under their belt. The movie won best motion picture, musical or comedy, best performance by an actor in a supporting role and best screenplay, motion picture. “A Star is Born” won best original song for Shallow, “Roma” won best foreign movie and best director while “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse” won best animated movie.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” won best drama movie and best performance by actor, but many people are upset with this outcome. This movie beat out “A Star is Born” to win the award, but it is the worst rated Golden Globe winner in 33 years according to the Rotten Tomatoes website.

Now, we can’t forget the television categories. “The Americans” won best drama television series, “The Kominsky Method” won best musical or comedy television series and “The Assassination of Gianni Versace” won best television limited series.

There were many more winners for the night from best actor/actress and best score in a motion picture. All in all people would agree that this Golden Globes went pretty well this year.
