With the holidays coming up, everyone wants to see their family. One of the hardest things is that not many people know whether or not they will actually be able to. My family always gets together to eat, open presents, play games, etc., but i’m not sure that is going to happen this year. My family has absolutely no idea whether or not we are going to have people over, go to my grandma’s, or just stay home. Not only are we unsure about seeing our family, but we don’t know if we’re going to be able to exchange gifts with people outside our house. Luckily, my family all lives within a close distance, so there will be no traveling for us.
But if anyone does have to travel, will they be able to continue their traditions?
That would be one of the hardest things for any kid or family to go through. For my family, any time we see each other we are always in our masks. My grandpa is at a very high risk, and the last thing we want to do this season would be to get him sick. Before the weather got cold, it was easier for families to gather because socially distancing was available outside. But now that it’s freezing out, outdoor gatherings are no longer an option, and indoor ones aren’t nearly as safe.
Right now the cases have been the highest they’ve ever been. We need to make sure we do everything we can to start getting the numbers down.
For people who are traveling to see family or gathering in large groups, the best thing you can do is wear your mask and try socially distancing when you can. Or if social distancing won’t be possible, you can always FaceTime or Zoom with relatives who are far away. This is the last way we wanted to celebrate the holidays, but unfortunately this is how it is. Although we are very uncertain, the best thing we can do is practice safe and healthy lifestyles.
