After many weeks of anticipation, Taylor Swift released “Midnights” at midnight on Oct. 21. The 13 tracks feature different elements of her previous albums. Different lyrics from “Style”: “midnight, you come and pick me up, no headlights…,” the theme on “Red,” and the emotions and vulnerability on “evermore” and “folklore.” Unlike other albums, not all of the songs in Midnights go together. The album’s components are all products of late night writing from Swift.

After the last two of her albums being released during the COVID-19 pandemic, these tracks add mature themes and vocals that haven’t been explored in depth by Swift. Even though the tone is a bit darker and a bit sporadic, it is a great next addition to Swifts oeuvre.
