Hype Squad has been around for years and serves as a student-led organization that strives to get the student body involved in activities.

Since they are student-run, they had to decide who was going to step up and take initiative.

“The leader of it is mainly Delaney Hill. Usually it’s seniors, but everyone basically leads [while] she just has the TikTok and Instagram [accounts],” Aubrie Fuchs, 10, said.

Most clubs vote on who their leaders are; but since Hype Squad allows anyone to join, they use a different method.

“I kind of just showed up to the first meeting hoping other seniors would be leading and then nobody else was so I was like ‘welp, guess I’m going to do it’,” Delaney Hill, Hype Squad leader, 12, said.

Even though Hill is the main leader, all of the seniors work together to finalize ideas that the group makes.

One of the most important things they have to finalize are the football game themes.

“We had a meeting and we determined what themes we wanted to do. Then [Daley and I] sat down and we figured out what day ‘pink out’ was happening, what day ‘USA’ was happening and [the rest of the themes]. We decided on what [themes] we wanted [for] home games, and [ones] we wanted [for] away games,” Hill said.

The seniors are usually the ones in the leadership positions; however, they will need to be replaced once that year is over. In order to find a great Hype Squad leader, many students look for certain characteristics in a candidate.

“They need to be outgoing, passionate about school spirit, and participating in spirit weeks, things like that,” Fuchs said.

Hill and the seniors will be working hard these next few weeks deciding on themes for this year’s basketball season. They will also be working with all members to start planning for winter homecoming and future fundraisers.
