Today at the Group of 20 forum, India announced its plans for its economy in the coming years. As an emerging market country, India has formerly prioritized maximizing profit in their key industries such as steel, I.T., and textiles. However, this year, India is putting emphasis on climate change instead.

India is not alone in the shift to a reduced emission economy, however, they are ahead of the curve. They have made appeals to richer nations for funding in their economy but have been unsuccessful. As the third highest emitter of greenhouse gasses, India’s statement at the G20 could hold great influence over other participating countries.
