Space Invaders: SyFi Day
Aliens descended from the stars and walked amongst the students of SHHS on Thursday; there were space shirts and costumes and all manners of elaborate outfits. However, four lucky students were deemed the most ‘out of this world:’ Stephen Rachford, 9, Lydia Leza, 10, Ashlyn Manderfeld, 11, and Jourdyn Nickel, 11.
“I’m just a normal alien,” Rachford said. “I like aliens.”
Leza took a different approach.
“I am Luke Skywalker piloting the X-Wing,” Leza said. “I already had [the costume], I just had to do some minor repairs. Mark Hamill has been in the Star Wars movies since the beginning, and that’s cool.”
However, while Leza’s was recognizable by most, Manderfield reached for something less recognizable, but equally loved.
“I’m dressed up as Eva Nine from the ‘Search for WondLa’ series,” said Manderfeld. “I remembered last night that I had really liked reading the WondLa books, and I knew I could do the hairstyle, so I thought ‘Why not?’”
And still others drew back to the idea that started it all.
“I’m dressed up as an ‘Alien Homecoming Queen,’ because Alien Homecoming Queens are always fun,” Nickel said.
Friday is the last day for the contest, so Spring Hill students better bring their all!
