Maureen Kennedy, English Teacher

Kennedy is an English teachers. She only taught for a semester last year before coming to Spring Hill.

“I graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Go Bods!

I taught Creative Writing at the women’s prison in Topeka for 2 years to max security inmates. It was such an eye-opening and life-changing experience; I definitely would not be teaching today if not for those women.

In the first semester of the school year, I have learned how absolutely amazing students and staff are at SHHS. Everyone is so kind, helpful, and full of energy that makes it great to be a Bronco.

I am super excited for English four next semester when we will move on from British Literature into a semester of “future oriented” writing and preparation. I love having the opportunity to get our Seniors as ready as they can be for their lives after high school.

My plans are changing every day, sometimes every hour, but that is the beauty of being a teacher. Having the flexibility and creativity to go with the flow and make the most out of what you are given from period to period. It keeps me on my toes for sure.”
