In Spain, five were arrested for being in control of a fake Brad Pitt scam. Both women were contacted by the Brad Pitt fan site by scammers, convincing them that the actor was using the money toward various projects. Two women in total have lost 362,000 dollars through this website. For one of the women, she lost nearly 195,000 dollars and the police were only able to recover 95,000 of what she gave.
Cyber criminals plan to reel in the scammers by stalking anything posted about them via social media. These criminals traded messages and emails, through Whatsapp and convinced the women they were talking to the famous actor, Brad Pitt. Internet scams happen like this everyday, and it’s very important to practice internet safety and be cautious.
