If someone won a free vacation, most would think of a cruise, mountain mansion, or even an international trip. While I can’t deny how amazing these trips can be, I think this assumption can be harmful to how some people see themselves and their lives. So many people think they can’t travel because they don’t have enough money or they can’t take a break from their life. Sometimes people are just not comfortable with going to another state or country. Not traveling all the time makes them feel like their lives are boring, and they go through their days with less excitement.
I do not think traveling has to be this unattainable, and time and money should not be restrictions on how much someone travels. While going to Europe can be super exciting, people can also have fun at a local coffee shop with friends. Even things like parks, which people typically think are just for kids, can be so much fun. Gather a few friends and some food and take a day trip to a park or a lake. Have a picnic. Go to the farmer’s market on Saturday. Walk through a field with your dog. There are so many opportunities for travel right in the Spring Hill community.
In the coming weeks, I look forward to busting the myths that hold so many back from their traveling potential. Follow me as I explore the roots of these myths, the effects they can have, and how to break free from them.
