On Monday Oct. 21, an inmate named Kevyn Lopez, 26, was found dead at Hutchinson Correctional Facility in their cell. The reason for Lopez’s death is unknown, and they were serving a 94 month sentence for manslaughter. They were convicted on July 2, 2017, in Wyandotte County. An autopsy is pending.
No matter the setting or the cause of the death, the death of a person anywhere can be startling for people all around. Whether the inmate had friends in jail, or family waiting outside of the correctional facility, a death will have people worrying about it.
