Over the course of four years, Harshkumar Ramanlal Patel and Steve Shand shuttled over 500 Indian immigrants across the US-Canada border. This case led to the death of a family of four. A man named Rajinder Singh claimed the two men made over $400,000 during the scheme. Patel and Shand are on trial from Nov. 19 to Nov. 24.
Smuggling comes in all shapes and sizes and although doesn’t always hurt people, it is still a serious crime. A family of four died in this case because they wanted a better opportunity in the US.
