On Dec. 1, President Joe Biden officially released that he had pardoned his son Hunter Biden for his charges of Federal Gun Charges and Federal Tax Evasion. The 54-year-old pled guilty in early September of this year. The president saw his conviction to be unfair explaining that many people who were late paying taxes had penalties and interest rates but were not usually criminally charged.
In any situation where anyone is being pardoned, it is important that everyone pays close attention to the details of the situation. This conviction was unqiue because it was the president’s son and previously, President Biden had spoken against pardoning him, explaining that he deserved the same treatment of any other person. As Biden transitions out of his position of president, it is important that all U.S. citizens stay informed of changes and updates regarding policy and other political topics.
