An AI Jesus was introduced to St. Peter’s Chapel in Lucerne, Switzerland. This AI is called “Deus In Machina” which translates to God in the Machine. People go into a confessional booth and talk to the AI, which appears as a realistic-looking avatar. The AI was created after two months of experiments and it can speak over 100 languages.
There were no restrictions put on the AI because according to Philipp Haslbauer, a professor who collaborated with others on the project, the AI responds reasonably well to controversial topics. This project has received mixed reviews, some claiming that it is a new way to approach faith, while others find it unnerving.
