On Jan. 23-24, the juniors continued the tradition of visiting the National World War I Museum and Memorial. Every year, the history department leads a field trip to the museum in Kansas City, Missouri with the junior class. The trip coincides with American History and APUSH, which all juniors are required to take one of. The field trip hopes to give first hand examples of World War I, and enhance understanding.
“I think, overall, the trip wax really good and the museum was very interesting,” Boston Boxberger, 10, said. “It helped me learn more about more of the minor things that happened instead of the overall war.”
The World War 1 museum is almost entirely run by volunteers, many of whom are veterans, which contributed to giving a more hands-on tour given by people who really care for the content inside the museum.
