My perfect day would start with waking up at 8:30 a.m., I’d read, eat breakfast, drink iced coffee, read some more, walk my dogs, spend time with my family or friends, read again, and then go to bed. However, life is not perfect, and my days normally begin at 6:30 a.m., when I get ready for school, go to school, go to work, go home, work on school work, eat dinner, work on more school work, read for a little, and then go to sleep.
Going on walks, reading, getting fresh air, drinking water, meditating, being creative, spending time with the people you love, and even just taking deep breaths—these are some of the millions of minor habits we can do during the day to improve our health and quality of life, but we often forget to do them because life gets in the way.
According to the Department of Health and Aged Care, “Spending time on an activity that you enjoy can improve your mental health and well-being. In fact, people with hobbies may be less likely to experience stress, low mood, and depression.”
In the next few weeks I will be exploring the simple things you can do that are good for you and how they can be helpful to your mental health and overall life quality.
