For almost five years, Pop’s Sweet Shop has been a favorite in the community for their fresh cannolis, innumerable flavors of ice cream, rich fudge, and so much more. The Spring Hill location was established in Nov. 2020 by Joann and Dale Romano, also known as Nana and Pops (hence the name of the shop). Their award-winning, organic cotton candy motivated them to start this sugary shop, which now promotes the local city life as well as feeds the sense of community.
“Pop’s Sweet Shop is more than just an ice cream parlor,” Romano said. “It’s a cornerstone of the community. [It was] established with the heartfelt intention of creating a nostalgic gathering place.”
Pops is a popular stop for many with its old-school bakery atmosphere.

Music from the 50s-70s is constantly playing in the background, creating a nostalgic ambiance that is hard to resist.
“Usually with the music on, some people like to dance around, or you can see them head-bopping,” Andrea Carlson, 11, said.
Though their ice-cream is popular all-year round, sales take a huge leap in the summer. Kids and adults can all agree that a sweltering summer day calls for an ice cold treat.
“Some places, the ice cream can be too soft, and it’s easier to melt,” Carlson said.
This is a deal-breaker on hot days. Carlson believes Pop’s does not have this issue, and for this reason–among others–they are better than their competitors.
The ice cream flavors have been developed to encompass a wide variety of tastes, from the vivid, kid-favorite
“Krazy Colors” to the nutty, chocolatey flavor “Rocky Road” that is more popular with adults. This way, there is an option for everyone to enjoy.
“Among the crowd-favorite flavors are classic homemade vanilla, chocolate chip cookie dough, cookies and cream, and the uniquely beloved blue monster,” J. Romano said.
For those who don’t enjoy ice cream, Pop’s also sells a variety of sweets like candy kabobs, cotton candy, numerous flavors of fudge, and cannolis, all freshly made on site. There is something for everyone here, and it is open for all to enjoy. Business hours and more information can be found at popsmainstreet.com.
