On March 6, 8th graders from across the district traveled to the high school to watch The Outsiders put on by the theater department. Daphne Mullies, 12, spoke about the differences between paid shows and the middle schools matinee performance.
“I really think that the biggest difference between a matinee and a regular showing, at least in terms of how the high school does it, were performing in front of middles schoolers. For regular performances were performing for friends, families, teachers,” Mullies explained.
Students coming to see the show had a direct connection to their ELA curriculum. In the beginning of the year, eighth grade students read The Outsiders as a part of their curriculum. Students later came to see the performance and although there were some differences between the two, students still enjoyed the show.
