On Tuesday, March 11, student volunteers from the high school traveled to NourishKC Community Kitchen in Kansas City, Missouri. Employees and volunteers worked together to serve freshly made, hot meals to food-insecure citizens in the area. High school volunteers cut up food and assisted with miscellaneous tasks around the building for approximately four hours.
“[The trip] allowed me to get a view on homeless people and what their lives are like, and how people like volunteers or organizations help them out and allow them access to food and care,” Spencer Boyd, 10, said.
Members of the volunteer club regularly plan trips like these so that students can help better their community.
