First football games are a crucial part of school culture. One of the most prevalent sounds are the performances and songs played by the high school’s marching band, both in the stands and on the field. However, most do not know the perspective of the band members when it comes to first football games. Maily Casenas, 9, drumline member, comments on their first experiences marching. “Marching is pretty fun, but it’s also a lot of new things, so it’s scary at first.” Seniors in band, having more experience with marching, often have a different view when it comes to first football games. Isabella Andree, 12, flute player, prefers playing music in the stands as opposed to marching. “Everybody recognizes [the music] and the whole crowd is able to recognize it and get really excited.”
The Broncos came out on top against Bonner Springs 47-7. They will stay at home next week, facing Tonganoxie in the homecoming game.
