On Saturday, Sept. 20, the marching band will travel to Blue Springs South High School to compete in the Kansas City Championships. The band will take brand new uniforms with them, including gold uniforms for drum majors Lily Meek and Cymri Elton, 12 – to match the theme of this year’s show, “All Things Gold.”
The band has been rehearsing at 7 a.m. every morning before school, contributing to a newfound confidence in their final stages of preparation. “[We are] a little nervous, but football games have looked a lot better and cleaner than [in] previous years,” said Elton.
The band will perform at 1:18 p.m. in a preliminary round and again later in the evening for a finals round.
