Kicking It Off Right
New year, new stadium, same great game. That’s right, the Broncos just had their first match of the new soccer season against the Piper Pirates Friday, Aug 25. And to top it all off, it was being played in the school’s new soccer/football stadium that was built this summer. At 4:30 the clock started to tick down and things were off to a fast start for the JV team. Lazarus Campos, 11, scored the first goal of the whole season mid first half. Quickly following up on the first goal, Patrick Hartsock, 11, had a goal that went right into the upper left post from a very impressive distance. To end things off, Josh Santos, 10, scored in the second half which gave the Broncos a final score of 3-0.
Next up the Vvarsity played. Things starting off a little shaky with Piper possessing the ball most of the first half. They ended up scoring which put the Broncos down 0-1. In the second half, the Broncos played a lot better together, but sadly no one could score off of several attempts. Goalie Matt Hooker, 12, did have some impressive saves throughout the game. The final score ended up being 1-0 Piper.
Come back out on Tuesday, Aug 29 to see the Broncos face the DeSoto Wildcats at Spring Hill. Kickoff starts at 4:30.
