Dancing Into the School Year
The Dazzler Dance Team hosted their first annual Back to School Dance last Friday, Aug. 24. It ended up being quite a success and many people attended the dance.
Olivia Johnson, 10, member of the dance team, explained the reasoning behind the theme of the dance, All that Sparkles. She said, “We decided the theme ‘All that Sparkles’ because our dance team motto is ‘leave a little sparkle everywhere you go.”
The theme of the dance was displayed very well and made for a welcoming and classy atmosphere according to senior, Kennedy Mounce.
“My favorite part was just how professional it looked, it wasn’t cheesy like a lot of the other school dances tend to be. It really just had this sense of class to it…it still projected this idea that everyone was welcome and there was just a lot of friendly interactions during the whole thing,” Mounce said.
A lot of preparation went into decorating and designing plans for the dance. The Dazzlers worked for three hours to set up for the big event.
Johnson worked hard with the rest of the team before the dance to display the best qualities of the school cafeteria. However, the Dazzlers definitely pulled it off.
“I worked to string lights, I put a lot of glitter on people’s faces. We also decorated tables, set up places to do pictures [for a photobooth] and we set up balloons,” said Johnson.
Mounce elaborated on the decorations at the dance saying that she loved how classic it looked.
“I would just say it looked really classy, it looked really clean, really nice. There was something besides just some water bottles and tables, there was a lot more room to dance… it was really fun, and it was a really good time.”
Overall, the Dazzlers did very well with their first ‘Back to School Dance’. From the decorations, to the activities, to the actual dancing, everyone enjoyed this awesome experience. Now that you’re more aware of the dance, the Dazzlers know they will see you in attendance next fall.
