Kevin Hart Did An Oopsie
In the running to host this year’s Oscars was famous comedian and actor Kevin Hart. However, Hollywood wouldn’t be Hollywood if there was not some sort of controversy. Some internet sleuths did some digging on Hart’s Twitter profile and found homophobic tweets that he sent in 2011.
“Yo if my son comes home & try’s 2 play with my daughters doll house I’m going 2 break it over his head & say ‘stop that’s gay’” said Hart on January 11 of 2011. This tweet, along with a few others stating similar things to the previous tweet, have caused Hart to step down from hosting the Oscars.
“This is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past. I’m sorry that I hurt people… I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart. Much love & appreciation to the Academy. I hope we can meet again,” said Hart on Twitter.
Members from the LGBTQ community are asking Hart to issue a formal apology, along with the Academy, who threatened that they would find another host. This is what prompted Hart to step down as he stated that he did not want to, “feed the internet trolls.”
All is not lost for Hart, however, as he is set to host this year’s Academy Awards and celebrate his newest movie, ‘The Upside’, for reaching the number one spot at the box office on its release weekend.
