After arriving in Pittsburgh on the Thursday before competition the state girls tennis team made their way to Pittsburgh, Kansas, this year’s home for the state meet. The team was made up of number one singles player Izzy Williams, 11, and number one doubles team, Avery Anderson, 12, and Layla Smith, 11. They were accompanied by both Thomas Sherron, head tennis coach, and Paige Delgado, assistant tennis coach. The team stayed overnight and competed on Friday, Oct. 18. Both teams fought hard, but went 0-2 for the day. Williams took on Salina Central and Salina South, while Anderson and Smith took on Salina Central and Andover Central. While the girls didn’t win they did have a lot of family and friends there to cheer them on.
