2010s Hottest Decade on Record

The decade that has just come to an end with shattering records by being the hottest ever decade, with 2019 being the second warmest year on record. This decade averaged nearly two degrees higher than the 20th century, plagued with “raging wildfires, melting ice, and extreme weather.” Several scientists agree that the coming years will be even hotter than the past decade, which housed eight out of the ten hottest years on record.

Climate change is not coming to an end until we stabilize greenhouse gasses (the burning of coal, oil, and gas). Global Warming is human-induced, since the other natural causes – “such as extra heat from the sun, more reflection of sunlight because of volcanic particles in the atmosphere, and just random climate variations” – are far too small to explain the long term trend of the earth heating up.
