Department Stores Adapt Santa Visits

The Capital City Mall in Pennsylvania is another business who found a unique way to adapt traditions changed by COVID-19. For those who start celebrating Christmas early, they will start seeing minor differences in this year’s celebration right off the bat. Most malls plan to keep the tradition of Santa coming to visit, but with several safety precautions put in place due to COVID-19. This way, malls will still attract customers by not cancelling one of their biggest lures during the holiday shopping season.

There will be no kids sitting on Santa’s lap and telling him what they want, but instead telling him from six feet away from behind a sheet of plexiglass. Santa and his visitors will be required to wear a face mask at all times, including in photos. There will also be reservations to cut down lines, as well as consistent sanitizing.
