On Jan. 20, at 11:46 E.T. former Vice President and Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. finally became the 46th president of the United State of America, as he was sworn into the prestigious office after almost 48 years in public service. Biden was accompanied by his children and it was his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, who held his family heirloom bible as he swore his oath of office that was overseen by Chief Justice John Roberts. But before the President could be sworn in, he watched as the country saw one of the many firsts that this administration brings; the swearing-in of now Vice President Kamala Harris, the highest ranking woman to ever work in government, and the first Vice President to ever be from Black or South Asian descent. Finally, after they were both sworn in Biden gave his first address to the American people as President of the United States

As he begins his first day in office, President Biden is expected to both deliver official legislation to Congress in regards to immigration as well as make several executive orders, many regarding the U.S.’ participation in international organizations, its response to COVID-19, as well as environmental issues.
