House Democrats Deliver Articles of Impeachment to Senate

On Jan. 25, clerk of the House Cheryl Johnson and acting House Sargeant-at-Arms Tim Blodgett led the impeachment managers to the Senate floor. The article of impeachment brought against Donald Trump has officially been delivered (photo courtesy AP News).

Nine prosecutors from the House of Representatives have officially delivered the impeachment case against former President Donald J. Trump to the Senate floor. However, the case might not go as originally planned; Republicans in Congress who were quick to judge Trump after the Jan. 6 riots are now hesitant to cross him and risk offending their Republican voter base.

The second impeachment trial of Donald J. Trump is set to begin the week of Feb. 8, to give the former president enough time to mount a defense. This will mark the first time a president has faced an impeachment trial twice, and the first time an article of impeachment has ever been brought against a former president.
