Winter Homecoming Update

Going back to in-person schooling does not mean everything is going back to normal. Hype Squad, who plans winter homecoming, is still planning on holding a fun homecoming week. It will look a little different, just as fall homecoming did.

Homecoming week will be held Feb. 16 through Feb. 19, which is only four days due to Presidents’ Day.

“There will be no dance or pep assembly,” Meredith Todd, hype squad leader, said.

A dance and pep assembly are not possible due to social distancing guidelines and safety precautions, however Hype Squad still has plans to make it a fun week despite the circumstances.

“We have spirit days planned for the four days we will be in school. We also still plan on doing the traditional horseshoe hunt for bronco pride points along with decorating the gym,” Todd said.

Still in the midst of planning, Hype Squad will have more plans in weeks coming for what homecoming week will hold. Another important aspect of homecoming week is the coronation.

“For coronation, it will be the same as usual and each candidate will get either two or four tickets to the game,” Todd said.

As of right now, KSHSAA’s regulations allow four tickets per player to attend sporting events. Homecoming will be treated the same, and those in the homecoming court will receive four tickets. Rules and regulations are subject to change at any time.

Hype Squad promises to make the best homecoming week of their ability, as they always do. This winter homecoming just comes with a few more obstacles.
