Protests Against Coup Spark Violence
In Myanmar there was a protest against a recent military coup. The following day 38 people died. There is footage of the way security treated people, including shooting someone point blank. However, protesters did not stop. They went back the next day, but dealt with tear gas. Due to online videos and information, others are looking to help.
The United States, the U.N. human rights chief, and the world body’s independent expert on human rights in the country are speaking up about what’s happening. It was reported that more than 50 civilians had been killed by the police and soldiers. Many think that changes need to be made concerning the amount of power soldiers have.
