One of the most popular shows on TV right now is “The Bachelor,” currently on its 25th season. The bachelor for this season is Matt James, the first Black bachelor in the history of the show. Social media has since talked about this being the worst season to air. There has been more drama than ever, including racial discrimination. 

Rachel Kirkconnell, a top contestant, is being exposed because of the different racist things she has done. On social media, there have been pictures found of her at an “Old South” party. The party she attended was plantation-themed, which is incredibly offensive. Later in an interview, host Chris Harrison said her choice “was a mistake,” essentially excusing what he had done. Attending a plantation themed party is not a “mistake” and should never be considered okay. 

I find it very ironic that she attended or performed these racist things, yet she went on “The Bachelor” with the first Black bachelor. Harrison was later attacked because of his choice of words, and he has decided to temporarily step off of the show. After the final rose, Harrison was replaced with Emmanuel Acho, a former NFl linebacker and author. 

“It’s both an honor and privilege to be hosting ‘After the Final Rose.’ This is an incredibly pivotal episode on one of the most storied shows in television history,” Acho said. 

Acho is a known author who has written “Uncomfortable Conversations With a Black Man,” about racial dialogue.  He is fulfilling a major position due to Harrison’s actions and word choice. I think he is going to be a good fill for Chriss Harrison because he will voice his opinions on the actions of both Rachel and Chris. 

The show plans to continue airing, but ‘After the Final Rose’ should be interesting.
