Florida Organization Gives Girl Quinceanera
About 50 “Cover Girls” contributed to give a homeless Miami teen the quinceanera of her life. Adriana Palma’s family moved to the Miami area from Mexico in 2020 in search of a better life. The pandemic forced her father out of work and the family has struggled to find shelter and a quality living situation. Palma was sure that her 15th birthday celebration and quinceanera would be impossible to celebrate because of the recent challenges in her family.
The Miami Rescue Mission and Lian Navarro, a community development associate, heard about Palma’s story and the volunteer “Cover Girls” came together to make Palma’s celebration one to remember. Food, services, and money were donated to contribute to the Parisian-themed gathering. The “Cover Girls” work to make sure women are given hope and support in times of need, and they succeeded in providing a beautiful quinceanera for Palma.
