On Sept. 8, Queen Elizabeth II passed away at age 96. She was Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, having a reign of 70 years. King Charles III made a statement to the country, saying it was a “moment of great sadness” for the family. A Royal Mourning will not be in place for seven days.

In Edinburgh, Scotland, Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin has arrived at St Giles’ Cathedral for the memorial service. Thousands lined the Royal Mile as her coffin was brought through. The public will be allowed inside to see the coffin after the ceremony is over.
