Administration Communication through Earpieces
At the beginning of the year, students were curious when met with the administration equipped with earpieces. However, these are no FBI equipment and are definitely not for show. The school has found an effective way for the principal and assistant principals to communicate quickly and effortlessly.
“So far, it’s just been telling [others] where we’re at. [This makes] sure that we have coverage in certain parts of the building. So if I’m going to the commons, then I could radio Mr. Kost and say ‘Hey, I’m at the commons’ so that he knows he doesn’t need to walk all the way down there. He can go to a different area, like the gym, if we’re doing lunch duty. So it’s just kind of [there] to help us know where everybody’s at,” Kelly Heizman, assistant principal, said.
These new ear pieces are connected to their walkie talkies, making it simple and lightweight. By using this new addition, they can communicate instantly while also keeping the conversation private and preventing interruption in classes.
“I started working with the technology department to get walkie talkies for our school. In the past, we’ve been relying on cell phones, and we all know that cell phone coverage is not the best. This allows us to have immediate communication with each other. The ear pieces are connected to a walkie talkie,” Marc Williams, principal, said.
This upgrade has made communication easier along with relaying information between each other. This allows the administration to effectively stay informed in which it allows better supervision all around the school.
