Elizabeth Holmes’ recently born child is the reason for her almost 13 year sentence to continue to be delayed. Holmes was convicted for lying to investors about the capabilities of her blood testing technology; this conviction is currently trying to be appealed as of March 1, 2023. The child was confirmed in court documents last week prior to the next hearing. This information may cause the court case to not be resolved for many years. This is the second of Holmes’ children that has caused the trial to be delayed.

Holmes’ two children aren’t the only reason she thinks the trial should be pushed. Holmes and her lawyers think there are many mistakes in the case that could cause her conviction to be overturned. The resolution of the case is still up in the air.
