McDonald’s Sued After Chicken Nugget Falls
McDonald’s was sued after a hot chicken nugget fell on a little girl’s lap and left her with second-degree burns. The prosecution argued the chicken nugget was much hotter than regulation. The case went through two different juries before verdict was reached.
After jury deliberation, it was decided that McDonald’s USA was responsible for not providing food handling instructions. The franchise was held liable failing to warn customers about the risk that comes with handling hot food. The little girl suffered from burns up her thighs and spent time in the hospital, but will make a full recovery.
