Due to the rapid decline of Turkeys in the state, the Kansas Wildlife and Parks department has decided to suspend Turkey hunting this season. This decision comes after 15 years of a decline in Turkey populations in the region. While Turkey hunting is not as popular or As common during the fall season, wildlife biologists still feel that this decision was important. This decision has been one of many attempts to try to protect and conserve the Turkey population over the years.
The turkey population has been threatened by hunting seasons across the nation. This decision will allow the turkey population time to recover to make hunting these animals safe again. Once the population dwindles , the likelihood of the turkeys being able to recover becomes more difficult.
