Country has been a popular genre for as long as I can remember. As it has evolved over the years, many new artists are hitting the charts daily. One artist that has piqued my interest is Zach Bryan. I do not like a lot of country music, but Bryan’s music is relatable and has more of a pop feel.
They just released the albums “Zach Bryan” and “Boys of Faith,” each with top hits on all charts. Both albums do not lack on their unique topics, mostly talking about mental health. Country music usually talks about exes, trucks, and even drinking, but Bryan focuses on other issues that they endure. The first song I heard was “Tourniquet” and the way it talked about being by someone’s side and not allowing them to give up really resonated with me. The tone of their voice and the tempo of each song has a happy medium between country and indie-pop which does not make me feel like I’m listening to something I’ve heard before. Like many artists, their music entails both upbeat and slower songs allowing fluctuation between genres. There are some songs that have more a country feel, but the topic of the song shifts more towards what other genres would include, not necessarily country.
After listening to many other albums of Bryan’s, there were not any songs that I thought sounded similar to one another, which is something most artists have trouble accomplishing. It was also nice to see the amount of collaborations they do with other rising artists, considering it’s not very common in country music. Their music is definitely something that I can include on any playlist and recommend to anyone, even if country is not their top pick. It will be exciting to see the new albums Bryan makes in the future.
