On Sunday, Jan. 28 at 7:12 p.m., a Dollar General was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect is believed to be a 5’4″ white person who held a firearm up while demanding for all of the money in the register. This Dollar General was located near Hillsdale Lake in Paola off of Old Kansas City Road. Similarly, there was a robbery at the Subway in town Friday, Jan. 26. A customer claimed they went to pick up their order, and when they got there, the worker said they were robbed and forced to walk to the Family Dollar near by to buy gift cards. The teenage worker also claimed to be working alone.
With both of these incidents happening within two days of each other, within the same county, and the same crime, it is important to be aware of your surroundings. Even though many might feel comfortable in their small town, these types of crimes can still happen and it is important to stay aware and always be prepared.
