The Kansas City Chiefs have won the 58th Super Bowl! They are the first team in twenty years to win back-to-back Super Bowls (with the previous team being the New England Patriots). The first half was very slow, with only one touchdown on the board by the San Francisco 49ers, along with field goals by both teams. However, the second half was jam-packed with holding calls, missed extra point, and redemption from Patrick Mahomes. The lead went back and forth between the two teams.
This is the first game with the new overtime rules where both teams have possession of the ball. With the season on the line, Mahomes was able to pass the ball with eight seconds left on the board to Mecole Hardman to win the game. On Wednesday, the Chiefs will be back in Kansas City to celebrate their win with the city and get back to work for Super Bowl LIX.
