A 16-year-old unnamed student got into a fight with administrators and an officer when he allegedly brought a gun to school. He has been charged with aggravated assualt on a law enforcement officer, juvenile in possession of a firearm, interference with a law enforcement officer, and possession of marijuana.
Olathe Northwest principal Chris Zuck said that administrators learned from another student that the 16-year-old may have had a weapon in his backpack. An officer gathered the student from the cafeteria, as per the school’s protocol. Zuck said that there had been an altercation between the officer, student, and two staff members. The student was detained. Officials confirmed he did have a loaded gun in his backpack. There was no harm done to any person within the school.
