This year marks a new chapter for the high schools’ track program. Elizabeth Delgado, PE teacher and tennis coach, is being introduced as a new coach to track and field. While already doing many things in the physical education world, Delgado is now ready to embrace their fourth role as a track and field coach. With track starting up in a couple weeks, Delgado is actively preparing to step into a new coaching space.
“I’m excited to be back in the track and field space because that’s my first love,” Delgado said. “I had such great coaches growing up and I know we have such an amazing program…I want to do it justice.”
Delgado has a lot of personal experience, and is no stranger to the competitiveness of track and field. Competing all throughout high school and into college at Pittsburg State, and also coaching at Frontenac High School during her student teaching program, Delgado is full of experience and ready
to share it to all of their eager athletes.
“I think I’m going to be primarily working with middle and long distance, since that’s what I did, I was a cross country long distance runner,” Delgado said.
With such involvement in the sport, Delgado will be able to withdraw knowledge from their track and field background. As the season approaches, the excitement is building, and hopes for the program look up with Delgado in the driver’s seat.
