100 Word Rant: Seniors in Classes With Freshmen

Kelsey Kroutch, 12

As a senior, I’m not a big fan of being in a class with freshmen, and as a freshman, I don’t remember being a fan of being in a class with seniors. I get the thought process behind merging all grades into a class, but I think it takes away from the quality of a class. When it comes down to it, freshmen and seniors can surely be friends, but I think our academic levels, for the most part, are too far apart to successfully combine into one curriculum. It’s not a feeling of superiority, it’s a matter of maturity.

I personally do not like to be in classrooms with freshmen because their maturity is very bad. You do not get very many quality class conversations because they do not always take everything seriously. In my sociology class, the freshmen tended to make random comments that were very idiotic. I realize that teachers are trying to merge the two grades so that we know each other better, but we tend to separate ourselves. In some of the classes, the freshmen were very loud and disruptive, and it annoyed the seniors attempting to get their work done. Please maintain the peace.
